CMHA North Bay and District invites you to participate in our 2nd annual exciting mental health and fitness initiative, The Push-Up Challenge, from Tuesday Feb 11 to Friday Feb 28, 2025.
Participants will be challenged to complete 2,000 push-ups over 18 days for the ~2,000 lives lost to suicide each day, worldwide.
Participants can aim for a smaller portion of the total target (such as 25%, 50% or 75%). Alternative exercises are fair game (think squats, knee push-ups, or even jumping jacks). Check out some more ideas here!
The Push-Up Challenge is a virtual event that is free and easy to be involved in. It is a unique way to engage your organization in mental health by:
- Learning about mental health: Throughout the challenge, participants are set a daily push-up target which relates to a mental health statistic.
- Encouraging connection: Participants benefit from a positive team spirit and sense of comradery amongst their teammates, workmates, and other groups, both virtually and in person.
- Reducing stigma: Facilitates conversations about mental health and encourages people to seek help when they need it.
- Promoting fitness: Exercise can positively impact your mental health. Push-ups can be done anywhere and anytime, and participants can aim for a target which suits their ability.
- Make a difference: You can choose to raise funds for CMHA North Bay and District to improve mental health outcomes in your community. Locally, the funds raised from The Push-Up Challenge will go toward a client assistance fund which helps support our most financially vulnerable clients.
