The opioid epidemic alone is one of the worst public health crises in Ontario. There have been more than 15,000 preventable deaths in Ontario since 2013. Ontario is facing an increase in the harms related to opioids, with an increase in emergency room visits, hospitalizations and fatal overdoses. In 2022, North Bay’s average opioid-related deaths per 100,000 population was nearly three times above the provincial average. This year’s #BellLetsTalk is focused on creating real change for mental health. CMHA North Bay and District joins CMHAs provincewide to remind Ontarians that addictions need to be part of the conversation.
